Even if you first heard about the Mokai Lounge nightclub after the horse incident, it is important to not let this event tar your impression of the company. The owners and managers of the Mokai Lounge club are human and make mistakes, but are above all committed to the safety and wellbeing of all their guests, nor do they mean any harm to horses.
That said, the insanity of the horse in the nightclub is in some ways representative of the sort of atmosphere you will find at the Mokai Lounge in Miami: fresh, high-energy, and always outside the box. Just with slightly fewer horse-related troubles.

The venue itself combines old-school glamour with 80s funk and modern edge, for a truly luxurious, youthful, fun experience. Despite how big it feels on the inside, it actually only has a capacity for 220 guests, so make sure to get on the guest list and/or book a table if you want to get in! The one thing this guarantees is that Mokai gets one of the best crowds in Miami, and you can tell just by looking around that everyone next to you is a somebody.
Men may still be asked to pay a cover charge, even if you have a reservation. It's basically impossible to get in at the door, even if you bring money for a cover charge and wait all night. Don't waste your time and book instead.
Drinks are naturally pricey, but for where you are and the quality of the club, it's about what you would expect. Bottle service is an absolute must, as the venue gets very busy and bottle service makes your night easier. Besides that, if you book in advance and get bottle service you are basically guaranteed the finest VIP treatment, which is a wonderful experience in and of itself.
The music at Mokai is almost 100% DJ, with local talent and internationally acclaimed DJs both getting stage time throughout the week. Expect hip hop, rock, house, and electronica above all else, but you may get some top 40 remixes as well, depending on the night. Remember that this venue prides itself on being alternative and on its excellent selection of hip-hop, so you will probably not hear the same pop tunes played on the breakroom radio at work.
You need to be dressed pretty sharply to get into this beautiful, fun nightclub. Although they embrace alternative fashion, make sure your look is polished, and avoid sportswear. Women are advised to wear cocktail dresses with high heels, and men to dress smart casual.
