A surprisingly modern, Western nightclub in the middle of Moscow, the Spy club is a great fun place to be in Triumfalnaya Square. This venue draws on many modern trends in decor and fashion, from retro style posters to elaborate metalwork on the furniture. But it also features some more traditional European nightclub details, such as the beautiful mirrors, or the stunning floors, more reminiscent of rococo and art deco style than modern trends. There are a few unique features as well, such as the golden bear sculpture, or the brightly upholstered seats.
This club, much like the Royal Arbat, is open twelve hours a day, but it has a very different sort of a focus. It opens from two until two, and focuses on individuals and small groups who are looking to have a more quiet, relaxed, intimate night. If you want to socialize and mingle more, you will do much better going to the Royal Arbat. But if you are planning on just having a nice, chill night out with a beautiful atmosphere, some great people watching, good music, and delicious drinks, then the Spy nightclub in Moscow is a great choice.
The seats are mostly individual stools and armchairs, rather than lounge chairs or booths, which makes it much easier to enjoy your space and have a drink in private as you watch the goings on in the rest of the room. If you are there with friends, or you plan on mingling, there are a few benches along the walls, but by and large the venue is designed for people who want to be left alone to enjoy themselves.
The walls have many different glass and mirrored surfaces, and in most of the venue even the ceiling is covered in mirrors, making this Moscow club feel really open and much, much larger than it is. You will feel very comfortable here.
During the earlier hours of the day it is a great place to just stop by for a drink or a coffee, to sit and check your phone, or to meet new people if anyone looks sociable. They also serve some delightful, high class dishes. In that respect, it is not too different to a coffee shop. But the strong distinction is that no matter what time of day or night it is, it can be very difficult to get into this Moscow member's club. You really need to be on the guest list to get in.
As the night progresses you will see the building filling up with young, wealthy, beautiful people ready to party. Generally the atmosphere is fairly reserved and you will not find much of a vibe going off, but if you are more of a quiet person who just wants to take in the scene, this could be the ideal club for you to go to in Moscow.
The dress code is basically anything that looks sharp, but no sportswear. A suit is your safest bet if you are a man, and a party dress is a great choice for women. Make sure to bring money for a cover charge, even if you have a reservation, just in case they are busy and decide to start charging for entry.
