If you are into the rugged, traditional style of lounge or nightclub, then you need to check out the Jimmy Who? nightclub in Tel Aviv. It has all the comforts of an easygoing lounge with all the class and coolness of a retro club scene, inviting plenty of club goers of all ages to mingle and enjoy their night out.
Hidden away in an unassuming little building, you would not suspect that behind the doors of Jimmy Who? lay an eclectic and funky nightclub, pumping with energy and inviting everyone to chat, dance, and generally have a great time.
One of the most fun places to go on Rothschild Boulevard at night, the Jimmy Who? is a trendy venue that really capitalizes on the modern popularity of rugged, rough, rural decor. You will feel transported into a log cabin in the woods in the late 1800s, surrounded by comfortably upholstered armchairs and beautifully laid wooden floorboards. The lighting is not as soft or as modern as in some other venues, but the warm glow actually works really well with the wooden features, making the room very cosy and comfortable.
But then you get the special features, from neon signs asking "Who the fuck is Jimmy?", to an old dentist's chair, and a load more decor that would be at home in a bunker or an antique shop. It really is a unique experience right in the middle of Tel Aviv, and it's easy to see why people keep coming back.
The music leans towards underground tunes, from unknown artists, to oldies, from rock to electronics, and from rock to pop remixes. You will love these mixes, though, as they are spun by popular Tel Aviv DJs with plenty of support and a solid fan base. They know what they are doing and you will have great fun.
With more of a traditional bar feel comes a more traditional selection of cocktails and bottles. There are a few high end brands, but most of the drinks are fairly simple, enjoyable beverages, and you will always know what you are getting. A major upside to this traditional bar theme is that the drinks are not outrageously expensive.
This nice little nightclub near Rothschild Boulevard opens early and stays open late every single night, allowing you to show up, get settled in, and enjoy your night to the fullest. The nightlife really picks up around midnight, but then again at two in the morning, depending on how many European tourists there are around. If you want more of the local or English-speaking crowd, show up earlier. If you want more of an international scene it is best to be there around one.
Because of the theme of the venue, bear in mind that it attracts a lot of slightly older and alternative club goers. Look out for rockabilly, anarchistic, and otherwise rebellious people aged thirty and up, rather than young, preppy, pop culture followers. This is a venue for artistic people with a relaxed approach to their nights out.
Because it is such a small club, it can be for the best to make sure you get on the guest list, or reserve a table in advance, although this is not strictly necessary
