If you're looking for a cool, unique new venue to hit in Paris and you're not prone to seasickness, why not check out Café Barge, a café and club literally located on a barge boat. Crazy? Kind of, but the sort of crazy we dig!
This beautiful vessel has been completely refitted with booths and a DJ stage, as well as plenty of tables which can be tucked away when the party gets started. Although it is a small space, this flexibility makes it great for events and parties, where you can really play around with the layout of the venue.
Café Barge in Paris operates as a restaurant by day, and a trendy waterfront nightclub after dinner. It also plays host to all sorts of live music and DJs, providing a wide variety of entertainment until late at night. The music itself tends to lean towards house and electronica.
Unlike some other Paris clubs, and very much unlike the trend for European nightclubs, it closes sort of early, around 2am, meaning you may want to go somewhere else to finish your night off. On the plus side, you can really get your party started right, showing up as early as the afternoon for lunch, or 7-9pm for dinner, and staying around as night falls. Just don't assume that because you got in for lunch or dinner, you can hang around. If the tables are, as they often are, all booked for the night, then you might be asked to leave, so don't miss out and make sure to make a reservation.
Even during daytime hours it has more of an easygoing trendy bar vibe than a true café vibe, and, although it is a far cry from a dayclub, you are sure to enjoy yourself. The prices, by day or by night, are fairly reasonable, and light bites and pastries are available most of the night.
Naturally, as the club closes fairly early most nights and is on a literal boat, the party doesn't get as lively as some other venues. Don't expect drunken revelry and boat-rocking raves here. Instead, it's a sophisticated, easy-going venue, where you can have dinner and stay on for a night of great music, free-flowing drinks from their full bar, and good company.
And no need to worry about rocking the boat too much or floating away! Like many of the other great boat venues in Quai de la Rapée, the Café Barge nightclub is permanently anchored in its place and equipped with all the necessary safety features to prevent it floating off, getting a leak, or rocking too violently for customers.
Because this is literally a fairly average-sized barge, there are not many seats available. Even fewer than during the day, as some of the tables will be cleared for people to socialize and dance a little by night. Add to this the fact that it is a fairly unique, fun club with some distinctively great music, and you definitely need to book a table to get in.
When it comes to dress codes, there's nothing strict, but just make sure to show up looking polished and trendy.
