Radio EPGB – is an ultra-hip underground and Indie electronic club – a bar with a very mysterious acronym that defies all attempts at explanation. Considered by Tel Aviv inhabitants as a place to see and to be seen, this club attracts many persons from the upper class, especially artists and persons who want to be “trendy and notable”. In fact, with this characteristic the Club seems more to be a part of New York or London night scene, instead of Tel Aviv. As Tel Aviv evolves into one of the coolest cities on the planet (Lonely Planet recently voted Tel Aviv as 3rd best city in the world), it doesn’t surprise that the bar like Radio EPGB is packed to the rafters most nights. Radio is located in one basement in Rothschild Street, and it became from the beginning a “must be” place – the magnet for so-called “in” population. Its décor is really unique – an underground interior, so typical for European clubs, founded in the places of old factories, basements or shelters. Nothing elegant, noting expensive, but cozy and attractive! Radio indeed could be changed for some club from Berlin or London. Cozy atmosphere is increased with an excellent music, excellent underground and Indie rhythms, and a casual style of guests. The Radio always presents the latest music trends, live bands and DJs, and has became Heaven for country, electro, new age, funk, punk, underground and Indie electronic fans. Everyone who is “someone” in arts or fashion is seen in the Radio (named that way for its open communication channels with the city and its people).
The special interesting thing of the Club makes the graffiti on the bathroom walls. The idea to draw on the walls has been taken from the C.B.G.Bs in New York City. The graffiti perfectly make part of this underground and artistic atmosphere. Choosing to go down, to the basement, you choose to be “cool”, to be part of “in” crowd, of artistic environment. Even is a place is visited by upper class, there are no persons dressed too much elegant, or women who seems to be followers of football players. The idea is not to show richness, but to be casual and to put an accent on artistic elements. Who wants to make a fashion snob atmosphere, should change the club and go to some other place.
Be trendy, but in easygoing and stylish way. Anyone who respects this tacit rule is welcome in Radio. If you visit the old, magic Tel Aviv, go to be a part of this cool and trendy club at least for one night!
