Poppy nightclub in LA is a hybrid surreal nightclub which will whisk you away into a fantasy land far from the typical LA club scene. H.wood group, who also brought us Bootsy Bellows and Blind Dragon, has put all their expertise into creating a surrealist dream come to life, a fantasy world which you can walk right into. If you are looking for a quirky, retro, chic setting, Poppy Club LA is the place to be. Storybook characters adorn the walls, and acid-stained mirrors are present everywhere. A large feature wall displays poppies, naturally. And humans dressed as animals roam the place, making you feel surrounded by fantastical beings. As you walk through the door you can already tell that something unusual is afoot, and it only gets curiouser and curiouser in this West Hollywood nightclub. The entrance looks very much like a villa garden, with beautiful draping foliage. And yet you are also greeted by furnishings that would look more at home in a living room than a club's entrance. Inside this LA club, the curved ceiling and odd mix of natural and material makes you feel like you have been dropped straight into Wonderland. The creators admit it is inspired by high fashion's flora and fauna trends through the ages, as well as by storybooks. The drinks presentation fits in with the theme perfectly, with bottles disguised as animals, inside large oyster shells, or coated in plant themed decorations. You can expect a mix of classic and innovative cocktails, as well as a selection of fine wines. Bottle service at the table is on demand. If you want to enjoy great music in a relaxed, surreal setting, this is the place to be. The tunes are very top 40, without much mixing it up, but you don't really want much to take away from the setting, and you will be dancing the night away whatever you do.
